Garmin Express - virus!! / trying to change Kilometres from Miles.. - Garmin wanted to charge me £120..........

Hi All,

I'm trying to change the my settings from metres/miles to Kilometres (which it says in setting I've done)

I contacted garmin help, who put through to technical advice.

Who stated I have a virus!! and wanted to charge me £120 (3 years) to fix this.

I could not believe what i was hearing, all i wanted to change is Kilometres. I have virus software (ESET) and after another check all checks came back clear......

What is going on !!!

anybody else come across this???

That's quite an old device, good to know it's still working. Who at Garmin told you it was a virus and suggested £120? It costs less than that for a new device.

Old, but still looks brand new!

The technical department told me after linking up with my laptop. I soon stopped the conversation!!

I'm thinking of sending an email to Garmin.

You sure you were talking to Garmin? Sounds more like one of those PC scams!

Definitely Yes, it was from their web chat onto technical advice. Hopefully by emailing I might get an answer.

Do you know why I csnt change to kilometre from miles on the garmin express?

Garmin Express doesn't have any settings to change units, just exactly what is the issue?

Can you also explain how you contacted Garmin, as what you say simply doesn't ring true. Do you have the phone number for example?

Or the web address you used for the web chat?
