Why repeated reinstallations of the same updates?

Even after installing available updates, disconnecting and restarting, Garmin Express continues to show the same updates are available. (Device 60, Windows) If one is not paying attention one will repeatedly reinstall the same updeates because Garmin Express does not appear to be checking for recently installed updates.

Sounds like your .xml file hasn't updated correctly. Delete it then power cycle your device.

I deleted the .xml file, power cycled the device, and reinstalled the updates, but it continues to show the same software updates as being available.

note further that one of the updates - Device Software version 5.90 - apparently won't apply because whenever I look at Drive 60 info it shows version 5.50.

I did a chat with customer support and had success by plugging the device directly into a power strip rather than the computer. Apparently some USB ports do not provide sufficient power.
