Why no handheld forums?

Is SUSSAMB representing Garmin or are you simply an established member with no direct connection to Garmin who has earned the moderator role?

Either way, thanks to SUSSAMB for the response to my previous question, but it leaves a big question of its own... why do Garmin's official forums have no place for questions about their handheld devices?

I'd have preferred to add this as a response to the first question, but the topic has been closed, which seems a bit abrupt to me - I'm obviously new to the forums and a bit more guidance and advice might have been helpful. I assume this will be closed off as well but I would like to know why handheld support isn't here.
  • I've been asking for them for years but with no success. I was told a while back that Garmin don't have the staff to monitor them. This forum is moving soon to a new platform, maybe Garmin will include them then. It's even more strange as their German site does have forums for handhelds and automobile devices!
  • Ok.... thanks for the response. I've managed to register for the gpsreview site, but so far there's no sign of a "New Post" button after I've logged in. I'll check again later.
  • You need to select a forum first, then you'll see a New discussion button top left'ish
  • Not your problem, of course, so thanks for the comment.

However, I've logged in and gone into the Garmin Handheld GPS and Wearable GPS Forum but there's no New discussion button to be seen. Most peculiar - I'm very familiar with forums of various types and I can't see a reason why the button should be missing. I normally use Chrome as my browser but I tried Firefox and IE as well with the same result.

I won't take up any more time/space here... I've contacted the GPSReview team to see if they can help - thanks for the assistance.
  • Sorry - one last post in case it's of help to someone else.

Almost immediately after contacting them, I received an email saying I was now authorised to use the forums, so it was something the admins had to do.
  • Great. I'll close this thread.
