Garmin connecting to PC but showing in COM5 hub, and not showing as USB Device

I have a Garmin eTrex which the Garmin WebUpdater can find in the COM5 location, but BaseCamp cannot find the device, and Garmin Express cannot find the device.

When I go through the Windows menus, I can see the device in COM5. Any ideas as to how I make it appear as a USB device? Are there any settings I need to change on the device? WebUpdater is saying that it is up to date. I have also downloaded the USB drivers from here: https://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=591. GarminExpress and BootCamp have both been downloaded today, so are up to date.

Which Etrex? If a much older device then I'm not surprised you're having issues. You will need to use Webupdater

The old eTrex cannot be connected to a computer as a USB storage device, and it is not supported by either Basecamp or Express.
