Unable to update Drive 60LMT

  • I recently pulled a drive 60 out of mothballs and went to update it, but the updates are failing.I do not have the logs because I cannot find where they are stored.I have looked in Program Files (x86) and did a search for *.log and express*.* with no usable results.
  • When I try to update the device all I get in Express is a generic red banner saying an error has occurred and the update stops.
  • I followed the steps in the troubleshooting video. I removed and re-added the device. I uninstalled Express, restarted the computer, and re-installed Express, and re-added the device. No change.
  • I tried removing the device, closing Express, and restarting Express as an administrator and then re-adding the device, no change.
  • I bought a new microSD card and inserted it, no change there either.
  • I have reset all the settings and reset the device by holding down the power button for 12 seconds as instructed by the manual.
  • After each of these attempts I try removing and re-adding the device in Express.
  • I am fairly certain that the issue has to do with the device’s internal memory being full, but I never received a prompt asking if I want to use the SD card for map updates when I inserted it.
  • I have not tried running Garmin Express on another computer and seeing if it will update there, but I am willing to give it a shot.
  • Is there any way to check to see if the device is even recognizing an SD card is inserted? I didn’t see anything obvious in the settings.
  • If anyone has any ideas on what to try next, I would appreciate any help.

  • Are you running the latest Express? It will show you how much free space you have on the device and your SD card. What does it tell you?

    I am running Express version 6.13.1.0 and it is telling me that the device storage is 99% full with 25MB free, and that the SD card is empty 31.09GB free.

    I did notice that the my device is running software version 5.50 and the latest version is 5.90. Do I need to load a previous update before going to 5.90, and how would I go about doing that if that is the case?
  • 25Mb free is the issue. I suggest you remove some unwanted files to free up more space then try again. You could remove unwanted text, voice, vehicle, keyboard and EULA files. If by any chance you want them all copy them off then replace them once your device is updated.

    A simpler way if you know how to switch your device to mass storage mode would be to remove the jcv file in the JCV folder.

    Thank you SUSSAMB , I am updated and up and running. I ended up removing some voice files for languages I don't use and that freed up enough space to install the updates. I appreciate your help.
