Garmin Express on Windoes PC not able to add or find the device

I have a Garmin 645M, When I connect it to my Mac, I'm able to see and add the device in Garmin Express./ However, when I connect it to my Windows PC, Garmin Express doesn't appear to be able to detect or add the device. Although I do see the device in my folder list and can access the files in the device but Garmin Express just not able to find the device. Any Idea?
  • Does your usb cable have the word GARMIN printed on it?
  • Work your way through this FAQ, ignore the fact it mentions automobile devices

I went through the steps and still no dice. It's a brand new device from garmin. Like I said, it detects the device on Garmin Express from my Mac computer not my Windows.

It's a brand new device and using the orginal Garmin charger cable.
  • Then something may be an issue with your Windows PC. I suggest you call Garmin product support for detailed help as outlined in the FAQ.

Hopefully you've already found a solution for this by now. Your case sounds similar to mine - Windows could see the device but Garmin Express could not. Just in case your issue is similar, let me refer you to a thread I posted: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/garmin-express/garmin-express-pc/1462972-garmin-express-6-12-0-0-doesn’t-recognize-fenix-5x-plus-and-crashes-repeatedly.

Your device is different from mine, but the symptom of GE not recognizing the device when Windows does is similar. In the last post of that thread I identified some things I deleted from C:\Users\username\AppData\Local\. That might help you. If you already have an open ticket with Garmin, it might be worth mentioning the thread just in case the root cause is similar.

    Good luck!
