Garmin Express 6.12.0.0 does not recognize SD card

Garmin Express 6.12.0.0 / GPS is running the latest software iteration 5.90 / Windows 10

I've had this wonderful Garmin DriveAssist 50LMT for 3 years now and it's high time I finally get this SD card issue resolved.

I've tried multiple micro SD cards, the most recent being a class 10 Samsung 64G (link to specs here: https://amzn.to/2XXMccK )

I've formatted it multiple times to exFat (that and NTFS are the only options to format to on Windows 10)

Every time I plug the GPS in and connect to Garmin Express to install any map updates it says that the internal memory is 96% full and that there is no more room and to insert an SD card. This is understandably frustrating considering there IS an SD card installed (which my GPS itself seems to be fine with - it asked once the first time I inserted it to format it to FAT32.)

So, any ideas?

Needs to be FAT32 format, 64Gb cards by default are not.

Garmin Express only displays the space on the internal memory. It does not report the SD card memory.

No, but it should then accept the card for the map install, which is the issue the OP apparently has, not just that Express doesn't display the space on the card. Incidentally it would be helpful to everyone if it did, is that possible and if so could it be included in a future update?

The SD card should be detected during a map update unless there is a hardware compatibility issue of some kind. I recommend trying it on another computer just to see if the SD card is detected. If so, then it is a compatibility issue with the original computer.

Correction, the ability to view the status of the SD card is now available in Garmin Express 6.13.0

Thanks very much for the responses. I was able to update Garmin Express to 6.13.0 just now and while it now recognizes my SD card (0% full) it keeps telling me that my internal memory is full and to please insert an SD card to install additional files. The card has been reformatted again inside the GPS to FAT32.

I'm not sure 64Gb cards can be formatted FAT32 without some external program, so are you sure the card is FAT32? Click on Properties via Windows Explorer and in the General tab see what is shown against File System.

If that confirms the card is FAT32 check it's not write protected.

Now remove the card and run Express, only inserting the card when Express asks you to do so and see if that helps.

Your device does support 32GB cards only in map slot - 64GB card is supported in camera slot only.

I need to assume that you've tried 32GB (or smaller) card before - and with the same result?

That's only because 64Gb cards aren't FAT32 by default, I know users who have used 64Gb cards successfully having formatted them FAT32. As you'll see from the OPs post he's tried other cards without success so I suspect it's another issue. It does raise one query that I hadn't though of though, I assume it's in the correct slot?
