2019 update pulled ? Honda Civic built in

A (long overdue) 2019 map update for my 2017 Honda Civic was flagged yesterday in Express 6.10 which I tried numerous times only for it to fail at 49% - the s/w read my USB key and started to update before crashing. Tried everything. Elsewhere we're told it must only be a 16GB USB key, no more no less, or try different brands of key, none of which I quite believe. The xml file was written to it and as far as I see there are no issues with the USB in the car. Eventually I found how to read the log files which seem to point to network SSL/ TLS problems. Now Express s/w shows how the 2019 update has been pulled altogether and we're back to 2018 v3.33. Is it always this bad?

Yes ... Garmin Express will not run on my pc after doing an update. I just wanted to install a new firmware update .. which I could not do using the Garmin Connect Mobile app.

But to answer your question, yes Garmin is terrible for doing updates that actually work.

I hit the same problem on Friday (21 Dec) for my Honda CRV 2017. I got the notification that maps update 2019.0 was available. After the download, the software repeatedly reported an error processing the files writing to the USB stick. This happened on both my Mac and PC. I reported it to my local Honda dealer. When I went back to get some screenshots, 2019.0 was no longer available and Garmin Express reported that I was up to date with 2018.0 (last year’s release). Very annoying.
  • The map update for the Honda head units has not been pulled. If you are not offered an update in Garmin Express, please contact Product Support in your region to troubleshoot the issue.

Well strangely, I checked my Express s/w tonight and - lo - it claims the 2019 update is (once again) available, after telling me for the past few days that I was already up to date with the 2018 map. So I will have yet another try. Hopefully my earlier problems were down to a network glitch over the Xmas period.

I'm happy to say the map finally updated without a hitch. Shame it didn't do that to begin with but everything is now up to date.

I downloaded the December 2019 map update to my 2015 Honda CR-V it only got to 99% and failed it did not install Europe south garmin have tried to fix this but when I try and download the map again it says I don’t have enough storage on the device but my system shows I’ve got 1.21GB my system was perfect before the download . I have taken the car to Honda and Honda technical says the unit needs replaced or repaired at my cost.I downloaded the December 2019 map update to my 2015 Honda CR-V it only got to 99% and failed it did not install Europe south garmin have tried to fix this but when I try and download the map again it says I don’t have enough storage on the device but my system shows I’ve got 1.21GB my system was perfect before the download . • Not much we can do here then, Honda have explained what needs to be done.

Would you be happy to pay £3000 for a new unit that garmins map update caused the issue
  • Think Honda are having a laugh saying it'll cost £3000 but if true then I'd recommend sticking to a stand alone unit in future, which would also be your cheapest option now, you can get one for close to £100 :)

As for the update causing the issue, I can't see how that could cause it.
