I send a Fenix 5x with a dead WiFi to Garmin assistance
the old Fenix had maps updated to latest
I got back a brand new Fenix 5x with fw 11.00, but old maps
I tried to update, all maps installed but Western Europe 2.0
I already tried hard reset the Fenix (plus deleting the .fit and .gpx file, and the history)
I reinstalled the Garmin Express app (cleaning system and user tmp folders and even Garmin's Programdata and userdata subfolders)
I went on relentlessly for as long as 1h but only result I got was to make the
C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService\Downloads\Map\Map_Map.ActiveEU.2.0\RMU\ACTIVEWEU\2_0
grow as big as 460MB (229 files)Still the update process ALWAYS fails, with the following error message from the log file:
---> (Inner Exception #0) Garmin.Omt.Service.Operation.Map.InvalidMapInstallException: Could not determine where to install the map.
There are as many as 3 open threads about this issue in the Fenix 5x forum, one of them is as old as 3 months
But looks like Gamin is ignoring them. Not even a post to acknowledge the issue
