While we're not terribly familiar with Garmin (or GPS units at all, really), I am reasonably well versed in Android and computers in general. I got this GPS for my husband's OTR driving, and we've been fighting this unit concerning route shaping or navigation.
Earlier, we were trying to figure out why we could not make the route stay on I-55 between St. Louis and Chicago. It kept wanting to have him exit to I-39, so we route shaped past that exit, and now farther north, it wanted him to exit on Rt-24 and take a 2-lane highway. So trying to route shape past this point to get it to stay on I-55, it froze at 'Calculating: 80%' for over 20 minutes. It wasn't totally unresponsive or anything, I could back out and make it stop, but I wanted to see if it would actually finish, which seemed kind of unlikely at the time. What the hang-up ended up being was a weight restriction (on a section of Interstate?!) around a city that had construction earlier this year. Once this was discovered, the unit tacked on a detour similar to the forced Rt-24 route of earlier, and which cannot be edited or removed.
When doing route shaping, does route calculation normally take such a great deal of time or does it just happen when there are hazards it thinks are there?
Also, I read elsewhere on the forums that there was a delay in map release for the Dezl 770 until this month sometime, and that the current one was 2019.1. The map version we have listed in Garmin Express for our Dezl 780 is 2018.30?
Thank you in advance!
