Unable to update CN maps

The last time I updated my Nuvi 3598LM, I was unable to get the whole of Europe as was on it when new and had previously been updated. The error reported was insufficient space. As I was going on holiday and remaining in the UK, I was able to install the UK & Ireland reduced set.

Today, I decided to update again and was only offered the reduced set of maps.

The 3598 has 4.22 GB free out of 7.02GB and the SD card is empty - 3.68GB free out of 3.68GB.

How can I update the full set for the whole of Europe?
  • Why I don't know but to update to a different map selection you must first update the current map. Then run Express again and you'll be offered the full mapset.
  • I did the update for the UK & Ireland map. BaseCamp left panel for on the Nuvi then displayed CN EU 2019.1 V 22.10. But looking at the maps in highest detail was OK for south east England and part of France, but rest of EU had no detail. Guess a minor irrelevant bug. Now updating again as you advised. Will post the outcome.
  • This update worked OK. I now have all of Europe in full detail on the laptop (without GPSr connected) and also on the 3598. Unlike in the past, GE used the blank 4GB SD card to store map data.

But what a lot of effort to update GE, the GPSr and the laptop. Life was so much easier with CDs/DVDs and MapScource for my SP 2610 !

Thanks Sussamb for all of your help in both treads.
  • Glad it's resolved. MapSource is of course no longer applicable for modern devices, while it can still be used to update the map that's all it does, it won't install the other content now available, eg junction view

Now you have the full map future updates should be much simpler, I can generally update my devices in around 30 minutes.
