Manually putting a course FIT file to express to download to watch

Hi All,

Seeing as the Garmin connect course creator doesn't (yet) permit the creation of turn by turn cues I'm trying it another way.

I'm creating a course FIT file (type 6) with some external tools (GPSies, McBadger tool) and I'd like to get it on to my watch (FR 310XT)
I see several Garmin folders on my PC, and I was wondering:

Can I put a manually created fit file in to a folder on the PC, do an Express sync with the watch and get it to appear in the courses for the watch?

If so which folder does it need to go in?
Does it need to have a specific name?
Do I need to modify any other files to make this work?

I long time ago I used Training Center and the Ant Agent and that worked perfectly. Nowadays I'm using Express and Garmin Connect so I need another solution.

Would the procedure be the same for transferring courses ?

I'm guessing the 910XT and the 310XT share a lot of the same firmware.

I couldn't get it to work. The instructions I previously mentioned were for the 920XT which is a USB device where you can put the files right in to the correct folder.

My workaround was to install the now unsupported Training Center and Ant Agent on a second PC. Generate a TCX file in GPSies, import that file in to Training Center, then transfer to the watch with Training Center.
