Having sync issues? Check Windows Event Viewer for these errors 7031, 1026 and 1000.

Issues syncing with Garmin Express do to errors. I had been running Garmin Express version 5.4.0.0 for several months without issues. After having to reinstall windows about 1 week ago and installing the latest version of Garmin Express 6.5.1.0, I am getting these Event Errors that are causing sync issues. Anyone else having sync issues should check Window Event Viewer log and see if they are getting these errors.

Event Error 7031:
The Garmin Device Interaction Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 31 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

Event Error 1026:

  • I am having this problem with 2 fr305's. I am not sure what to do with the information, though.
  • I would contact Garmin Support and let them know you are getting these errors.

    Check out this thread: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/garmin-express/garmin-express-pc/1253626-syncing-issues-back-with-latest-version-5-6-2-0-event-error-1026-and-7031
    And this tread: https://forums.garmin.com/forum/garmin-express/garmin-express-pc/153778-new-esu-exe-net-error-entry-in-event-viewer-since-5-3-0-0-release

At the end of the second thread you see Garmins response:
"This issue has been resolved with the release of Garmin Express 5.4.0.0 which can be downloaded from here. This thread is now closed.
    Lisa"

Problem is the Sync errors came back a few versions later.

I was having random sync errors for years. Sometimes it would take a few tries and other times I couldn't get synced for a few days. They did get these errors fixed in version in version 5.4.0.0 but they came back in a later version. If you check Windows Event Viewer for errors and see these errors it's your reason you can't get synced. Event Error 7031 gives you an idea on how many times synced failed, see my initial post it happened 31 times since I last cleared the Event Error Log so over the last month or so. Each time you can't get synced these errors show up.

If you want to find a version that worked for me go to this sight: http://gawisp.com/perry/garmin_uilities/ and try version 5.4.0.0, it will have this date beside it 2017-04-27 07:46. Delete and totally remove your current version and do a clean install. Because Garmin removed the disable updates feature a while ago I went to this folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\Express SelfUpdater and renamed Express SelfUpdater folder by putting a 1 in front of it, this should stop Garmin Express from updating. Problem solved.
  • I emailed them. I have noticed that if I delete the FR305 from Express and re add it, it syncs one time (90% of the time). After that, will not sync again. Have to remove and reinstall.
  • Hi All, I have a forerunner 235 it has not synced my steps to my connect.garmin.com account unless it happens to have step info a day I did a cycle or run workout. It does accurately sync those swim and running workouts, too. Also, on the watch, itself, it displays accurately my current step count as well as the steps for the last 7 days. Only the step data is never synced with Connect. And it is not showing up on my calender at all. Please help!!
  • Marty, I would email Support. They are pretty responsive.
