I have the same issue with a NUVI 3597 on a Dell 9560. My computer has 2 USB 3.0 ports, and will recognize my NUVI 3590 connected directly to the port, but not the 3597. After several years of calling Garmin and searching the web for a solution, I bought a USB 2.0 hub and connected it to the 3.0 port. The computer recognizes the 3597 when connected to the hub.
