The dreaded "Some files could not be uploaded"

For some time now Garmin Express has been giving me "Some files could not be uploaded to Garmin Connect" when uploading from my Edge 705. I've had this before and a genuine corrupted file has been at the root of it. This time, however, everything appears to be uploading correctly, as far as I can tell, and the file which is being highlighted is: Garmin\GPX\current\current.gpx. This file gets recreated for every new activity so erasing it achieves nothing. Any suggestions?
  • I should add that I've looked at current.gpx. It's simply an xml file which appears to be valid xml - matching opening and closing tags, etc. After the usual headers it gives the date and time it was created followed by three grid references. I've looked at the grid references on the map and they are Garmin in Kansas, Garmin in Taipei and an industrial estate just outside of Southampton, UK, which I presume is also a Garmin building. I can't see what use Express could have for this information and why it could think it's corrupt.

    Hi

i wonder if you solved this as I'm having the same problem?

    Thanks

  • I too am still using my edge 705 and garmin connect always reports "Garmin\GPX\currect\current.gpx (Invalid File)"

    Any ideas how:

    - to fix this

    - also why Garmin Connect does not give me TSS and IF for my power data, even though it shows power graph?

(I wonder if the two are related)

    hi,

current.gpx is a one way copy of what's in inaccessible memory, so delete it then reboot your Drive, that will then recreate the file ... Hopefully that will fix it.

and forum search finds this ... https://forums.garmin.com/search?q=*current.gpx

    • reading the previous post it will not fix it Slight smile

was one of your last activities broken ?

    • try to clean up those first

still not working ? use the hard way : delete the GPX folder (backup first)

    happy & safe sporting

  • Thanks for replying! Yes, I have already deleted the current.gpx file and found it made no difference. Will try kill the GPX folder and see what happens.

I'm really hoping I can get Garmin Connect to show me IF + TSS; but I fear they simply are not fully supporting the old edge 705; I also cannot edit power zones on garmin connect: under device settings there is no data.

Be sad to forced to buy a new device, when there is nothing wrong with this one; battery life still good enough for my rides (less than a few hours). If I have too I'd take a look at the new Wahoo devices, they look quite good.
