Both PC's are running legal versions of win 7 U x64, I also have 2 Zumo 660LM however when i plug both of the 660's into either pc nothing comes up by this i mean nothing in "Disk Management" shows up, when i fire up Garmin Express (GE) and plug in either of the 660's again nothing in fact GE just keeps saying searching until it gives up, I thought my main PC may be the issue that is why i went back to the old laptop but the issue is there, does anyone have any suggestions what i can try?

I have heard of this in other posts i used a normal cable i have had in the drawer for years and have no idea if it will work with data or not, plus i have used a standard garmin cable, this came with the sat nav when i bought it 2nd hand, i'll have a look see if Garmin do one on their site.

I too have a Zumo 660 that I purchased new in early 2012. I have been using GE since I have had the 660. I am currently having the same issue with GE. It does not recognize the Zumo when connected. My issue started Monday April 16. I had tried to update Sunday night the 15th but the system was down for maintenance. I had the same problem in October of 2017. That issue cleared in about 3 weeks without having to do anything. Still don't know what caused the issue. I purchased two new cables, a new battery, followed all the suggestions in GE, deleted GE and downloaded another copy but nothing has helped. I use GE with Basecamp and it has worked very well with few exceptions. I emailed Garmin on 4/17 with the problem but have not received a reply. One side note: I also emailed Garmin concerning the 10/17 issue. I had a chat with a person and, in that chat, he told me that Basecamp is not compatible with Zumo! I maintained a transcript of that conversation.
• I know many users who use their Zumo 660s with BaseCamp, so not sure what you were told but your Zumo 660 will work with BaseCamp.

I have tried all the suggested resolutions: new cable, charged battery, deleting from Garmin Express. It worked fine until after Garmin's last Sunday nights maintenance. This happened last year and self corrected after about four weeks. My computer recognizes the Zumo 660 unit. Basecamp has a problem with connecting. Same issue last year. I don't understand.

I did have a chat with Garmin towards the end of last year and they said more then likely broken and wanted to push me to buy no one at a discount and the skeptic in me wonders if something weird is going on here and if it's a "cunning plan" to make us upgrade, just my 2p's worth

That simply doesn't make sense. BaseCamp works with mass storage devices.

I called Garmin support this morning and was connected to a support person/tech (his name was Tim) that provided the following information.
• Open GE with device connected to the computer. Make sure you are using the latest update, 6.3.0.0, then click to add device for click on the device if it is still attached to GE.
• If GE cannot find the device, go to the bottom right and click on the GE icon. In my case in was in hidden icons. Click on quit. (I am using Windows 7 Pro 64)
• Click on the computer start button and choose the computer folder and open. This will show the connected drives and space available. In my case, I had no available space and that was determined to be the issue.
• Click on the Zumo drive to show the folder list and then open the Garmin folder.
• Open the subfolder GPX and this will have another folder labeled Achieve. Open achieve.
• Delete all files in achieve. The tech stated that this folder only contains old files such as trac back and maybe some old routes.
• Check the Zumo drive to see if there is now space available. The tech stated that it does not take much space to add what needs to be added by GE.
• Disconnect the Zumo for the computer and replace battery cover. Let the Zumo start then shutdown.
• Reconnect the Zumo to the computer then start GE and click add device. In my case, it immediately recognized the Zumo and added it.
• The tech had me open BaseCamp. BaseCamp immediately recognized the Zumo and there were no more error messages.
• Mission accomplished!!

What a simple and straightforward fix in my case. After months, days and hours of trying to get the correct answer and going through countless emails, there is a rainbow. The tech also stated do not hesitate to call Garmin's support 800 number for assistance when needed.

Maybe this will be of some assistance to others in a similar situation as myself.
