Cannot Install Garmin Express v6.0.0.0

Hi,

I'm having some issues installing V6.0.0.0 which my old version of Garmin Express automatically prompts me to install. The install gets stuck half way through and I get told "the Garmin Device Interaction Service failed to start - verify that you have sufficient privileges" (see attached).

Have been checking online for solutions:-

- have tried end process for all aborted task manager installations
- have run the download as administrator
- have tried installing an older version (the latest I can install is 5.7.1, I get the same above error with 5.9) but as soon as it opens it prompts me to install 6.0.0.0 so I cannot change the setting to manual updates (which I read was a solution for some)

Grateful for any help to try and resolve.

Thanks

  • Typically when the Garmin Device Interaction Service failed to start, it is related to permission or Microsoft .NET Framework issues. To try and resolve this, try the following:
    • Make sure the account currently signed in is the Administrator account and has full control of the C:\ProgramData\Garmin\CoreService folder and subfolders
    • Turn off or temporarily disable security and antivirus applications on the computer
    • If the computer is running Windows Vista or Windows 7, repair Microsoft .NET Framework 4.5: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downl....aspx?id=30135
    • Restart the computer after the repair

If the Garmin Device Interaction Service still fails to start, contact Product Support by phone for further assistance.
