Sat nav maps

Hi
I am new to this forum, so I hope I have got the correct one!
Last week I purchased a Drive Smart 61 LMTD EU advertised as with Full Europe maps (45 countries)
I installed Garmin Express 6.0.0.0 and went to update maps, as instructed. An ‘unexpected’ error occurred (several times) and GE shut down every time.
When searching for destinations in France it will not let me specify that Country - the only F being Finland. I do not believe ‘full Europe maps’ are installed. How can I find out?
Please help me as I need to search for and find routes to destinations in France.
I have tried reinstalling GE but the same thing happens!!!
I do not think (from internet searches) that I am the first person with this problem!! Have found no solutions that I understand as I am not totally computer literate!
Please help if you can!
Thanks

  • Did you back up your device before you started trying to update it? If not then if the maps haven't been updated correctly you will need to get Express working correctly to rectify it. You say Express gave an unexpected error then shut down, at what stage in the process did this happen?

You can check what the map coverage is on your device by running JaVaWa's Device Manager from http://www.javawa.nl/jdm_en.html Click on your device in Device Manager then the Map Coverage icon. Report back with what it shows.

    Hi
Thanks for your suggestion but I solved it by running the reinstall as Administrator and it loaded fine. So, at last, I am happy.
    Cheers
