Hi Everyone, I have a Nuvi 260W which suddenly started having this error. I pressed and held the warning until it went away and went into the map settings, but the Map Info button is grayed out. Do you have a SD card in your nuvi? If so, the map file may be on the card, especially if you have updated maps. The name of the map file is gmapprom.img if it is in internal storage and gmapsupp.img if it is on SD card. If you have lifetime map updates for your nuvi 260, I would suggest putting in a new SD card, then run Garmin Express and reinstall the map update. If you don't have a map subscription and if you can't find the map file on SD card, you are probably out of luck (unless you have a backup somewhere).
There is some reason your nuvi is not recognizing the files. It could be that it is unable to read the SD card, or that the files themselves are corrupt. If the nuvi is unable to read the card, it could be because the card has gone bad, the contacts are dirty, or the card slot in the nuvi is damaged.
If your map files on SD are legit Garmin City Navigator maps from a map update, I would swap out the SD card with a new card and run Garmin Express to reinstall the map update. If the maps are maps you purchased pre-installed on the SD card, it is possible the card has gone bad and will need to be replaced.
