My folks are taking a trip to Europe and asked if European maps could be added to their 2699LMTHD. I assumed it would be as simple as changing the map region in Express but that option doesn't exist, only option presented is to reinstall the current full coverage of North America. Is there an option somewhere to force a different map region download, or are European maps not offered for this device?
You will need to purchase them, either as a download or on a SD card. The card has the advantage that it can be sold after the trip to recoup some of the cost.
Just my opinion, but in some ways it is better to buy a second device with Europe maps pre-installed. You may be able to find a used or refurb device for only a few dollars more than the map product will cost. You then get the premium features (like junction views) which you don't get with add-on maps. And like the map card, you can always sell the device after your trip is over.
