Syncing Issues back with latest version 5.6.2.0 Event Error 1026 and 7031.

Having issues syncing again with latest update 5.6.2.0 takes several tries.

Getting Event Error 1026:

Application: GarminService.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.

And Event Error 7031:

The Garmin Device Interaction Service service terminated unexpectedly. It has done this 8 time(s). The following corrective action will be taken in 60000 milliseconds: Restart the service.

GREAT HARDWARE RUBBISH SOFTWARE........
  • I said that I would get back so here it is.
Since reverting back to 5.4.0.0 I haven't had any real issues. I think once or twice it took a couple of retry's to get synced because of error connecting to server but it is able to sync with no errors really. I did get the Event Error 1530 twice in the last 4 days but that's it.

    Event Error 1530:
Windows detected your registry file is still in use by other applications or services. The file will be unloaded now. The applications or services that hold your registry file may not function properly afterwards.

Thanks a bunch, I downloaded 5.4.0.0 did a complete uninstall/delete and reinstall. I was able to get my device synced last night, first time in over a week. Checked Event Viewer and so far no errors. I disabled automatic updates in Garmin Express. Hopefully the issue has been completely resolved.

Thanks again, Hunnymonster, you saved the day. I will test for a few days and update with results.

Hi Fooger (or anyone else who might be able to help)....

How did you (how can I!) disable automatic version updates in Garmin Express? I believe that the latest 5.7 versions aren't compatible anymore with my version of Windows (Vista :-o) and GE refuses to even start. But if I uninstall it and then reinstall an older version (have tried both 5.4 and 5.5) then everything works fine for me..... that is - until the next day, when I find GE as auto-updated again to 5.7.

Would love to be able to carry on limping along for a while longer as I was with a previous GE version (on my old Windows, and with my old Garmin device - Forerunner 310XT). I've no other reason than GE to consider upgrading Windows (and likely the PC too) right now.

    cheers
    paul.
  • Version 5.5.0.0 is the last version of Garmin Express that will run on Vista. The way to avoid the forced update to a newer version that won't run is to disable your Internet connection before you launch Garmin Express. You will get a red error banner saying you have no connection. Just close that banner, then wait a minute or two before you re-enable your Internet connection. You should now be able to proceed with using the older version of Express.

alandb - cool, thanks for your reply. That's another thing I can try (right now GE is working OK since I downgraded to version 3.29, and used the settings in there to switch off auto-update).
  • I have sync-problems too with GE 5.7.1.0 / Windows 10 64-bit 1709 Home ed., but partly. Data sync of an activity from my Edge Touring Plus to Garmin Connect is OK, but in the next step when GE checkes for updates, a red banner "Sorry, we're having a problem communicating with our servers" comes up. Many retrys don't help. No signs from Windows that things are going wrong.
So I'll get in problems with the updates (firmware, map, etc.) when they arrive.
  • Hey sorry ptb1971 for the late reply I've been away for awhile and had problems replying in the forum, I guess they are having some issues. If you haven't found a way to turn off automatic updates go to C:/Program Files (x86)/Garmin and what I did is rename "Express SelfUpdater" directory to "1Express SelfUpdater". I haven't had any issues with GE running or syncing just not getting updates.
  • bikepc01 if you are having sync issues and you say "No signs from Windows that things are going wrong" check Windows Event Viewer and see if any of these errors show up 1000, 1026 and 7031 they are likely your syncing problems. I uninstalled GE and installed Version 5.4.0.0 from The_HunnyMonsters earlier post and no problems for the last month.
