Garmin Express not working properly

The latest version of Garmin Express does not seem to work properly on Windows 10. I have two different PCs. On one, Garmin Express crashes. On the other, Garmin Express starts the process of downloading the map, but stops at that stage (time remaining does not change and progress stays at 0%).

I have tried to uninstall and reinstall software, as well as clean temporary files/app data files and the registry, but nothing solves these issues.

From what I have seen on several fora, and despite what a few people say, there seems to be major problems with Garmin Express. Is there an alternative approach to download maps and install them on my GPS?

I have seen that you can copy unofficial maps from other sites, but I have a lifetime subscription with Garmin, and it would be ironic if I have to use a rogue copy in order to update my GPS.

  • Express works perfectly well on all my PCs including one running Win10. If you're having issues it's likely to be your system rather than an Express issue. I suggest you call Garmin support so they can troubleshoot your issues.

    Having said that no progress over time would usually indicate something is blocking the download so check your AV and firewall.
