Hi,

I'm trying to update maps in my Honda using Garmin Express as described in manual. The device has correctly been identified and registered and updates for maps have been successfully found. However during downloading of the files an error occurs. Below is the output from the log file:

I tried to do this on 3 different PC's and different networks but it still ends as above. Did someone of you experienced such behavior?

I'm having exactly the same issue to update my Honda Civic navigator maps (Europe).
Garmin Express 5.5.0.0 seams to start doing all just right, and during 45min downloads the map files onto C:\Programdata\Garmin (6,71Gb size folder), but suddenly stops with the red banner message "there was an error installing the update". So it doesn't copy anything into the USB pen drive...
Also the log file looks similar to that of yours. I attach here the *.txt (changed from *.log to enable upload here on the forum).
I already contacted Garmin Customer Service to get directions and support.
I've been trying since some days on two PC's both with Windows 7, connected by Ethernet cable and 120mbps speed, using a 16Gb USB pen

Garmin Navigator,Honda BEANS, MY15, FTEN, EU, AOEM

I was talking to my friend who was also updating maps in his Honda, but he was using older version of Garmin Express. I'll try to find and install an older version and perform the update there. I'll let you know if this helps.

    Solution

Ok, I finally managed to solve this issue.

These are the steps I made:

    1. Uninstall Garmin Express and remove all its files
    2. Install older version of GE (i used 4.4.0) from here.
    3. During the first launch GE will update itself to version 5.4.1.0
    4. Perform the map update

Since after all these steps the GE verion is 5.4.1.0, not the 5.5.0 that crashes, it can successfully download all the required files and copy them to the flash memory.

I hope this will help you too.

    Hello
Thank you so much for your post and good news.
I will try the same procedure end of day today, and let you know the results here.
If I receive some feedback from Garmin's Customer Server I'll share as well. Maybe can be useful to someone else.

    Cheers

    Hello
I've just followed the suggested steps you've advised.
It worked like a charm, at first attempt!!!!:cool::cool:
Once again, thank you very very much. I was about to go crazy over this...

About the help I've requested to Garmin Customer Service, still no reply so far.
Well, when (and if) they do reply, I guess I'll be the one presenting the solution :D

    All the best
