Each time, I followed the steps I'd been given by the Garmin support rep (I'm on a PC):
- Go to Garmin device in Explorer
- Delete folders ACTIVITY, NEWFILES, REMOTESW on the device itself
- Eject device, restart device
- Plug in device, sync again
... if the above don't help, then:
- Quit Garmin Express
- Eject Garmin device, restart device
- Go to %ProgramData%\Garmin\CoreService\Devices
- Move the folder corresponding to the problem device elsewhere
- Restart Garmin Express
- Plug in Garmin device
- Sync again
The first group of steps has never helped, if and unless I do the 2nd group of steps as well.
So it appears that, somehow, the files in one or both locations are becoming corrupted.
Ideally, this shouldn't be happening; Garmin hasn't been able to tell me why this is. I suspect, however, that Garmin Express is attempting to sync or otherwise do something to the data files while I'm putting my computer to sleep for the day. I've noticed the Garmin Express icon rotating at random times, so I think it must have its own internal schedule. I could fiddle with the "Scheduling" parameters to see if that stops it.
In any case, until recently, I always used to shut down Garmin Express when I was done syncing; it's only recently that I have left it running all the time. I'm going to go back to shutting it down when I'm done using it to see if this fixes the problem.
Has anyone else seen this issue come back time after time?
Do you think it is caused by what I suspect? Or do you think it's possible that my FR935 is somehow faulty? I hope it's not the latter.
