Problem Express update EU 2018.10 maps on PC

uninstall express with the free edition of revo uninstaller (uninstalling it through control panel - programs ... still leaves some info in the registry which is causing the problem). Re-install GE again and it should work fine when clicking on maps - install on pc.

It works! I confirm for Windows 8.1 (tablet) and Windows 7 (PC).

I also tried it the uninstall of Garmin Express, but with a different uninstaller.
Revo works well with its two steps.
At the end of the Revo uninstall, another program: CCleaner, has found two more registry keys of Garmin Express, I also eliminated those.
But in the process Basecamp is partially uninstalled, I recommend creating a backup of the database before starting.

I had not changed anything in the PC and I had the latest version of Garmin Express. I do not understand why each new map available something strange happens with Garmin programs.

I'm not exactly surprised that it all works okay after complete GE removal and reinstallation

My GE update from v5.2.0.0 onwards requires restarting PC after de-installing previous version but prior to installing a new one - as opposed to seamless update process in one go, via 'Update now' in GE, not to mention silent background update that stopped working either [see my other thread about .Net errors seen recently). Otherwise GE installation simply fail with one of those cryptic messages about elevated installer or something similar.

I'm equally not surprised with BaseCamp being affected as a result either - this is something I regularly used to witness since 2012 every time I was / am updating or installing EU maps to my PC (not sure if I encountered that issue recently though?). Effectively afterwards BaseCamp upon launching says that something's broken and that it needs to be reinstalled - which fixes it.
