Garmin Edge Touring Plus MAP UPDATE FAILS ALWAYS!!!

I do have to say I am getting very frustrated with these garmin products, always there's an issue of some kind.

Now after a winter brake, I've tried to update my garmin devices maps.

When I try to install the update, I get a few seconds of a screen saying "Preparing device for update", and Express then comes back with a very non-informative screen saying "There was an error installing the update", with no indication of what sort of error. I checked both the internal Garmin drive and the SD card for errors (none found). I've also done both a master reset on the Edge Touring and uninstalled Express, removed the contents of the Garmin folder under ProgramData, and reinstalled Express - neither made any difference to the problem.

Edge Touring Plus software version is 4.1

I have installed as an administrator and I run it as an administrator.

Yes, I've read many of the other topics and no, none of those answers help. I've read some replies that sent PM's to affected users, but that does not help. Why don't you make the fixes available online? And why do any of us still get this error even though some reported this bug a few years back??
  • I've never seen that error and regularly update 6 different Garmin devices. Normally the error you're seeing is linked to an issue with the PC, so there is no 'one fix'. Have you tried using another PC?

If you can't or if that didn't help call Product Support for detailed troubleshooting.

Fair enough, but if you don't get that error it does not mean that others don't get it.

I did in fact try it on another computer and got the same results. So in my case we got a 100% success rate of failure.

I understand programming language myself and I know how hard the task can be, however that being said, the Garmin software seems to be one of the buggiest I have came across in my life. My friend had a Garmin watch that he had to change for a completely new one 5 TIMES. It was under warranty, so no further charges for him, but the point is still there.
  • If it's not working on another PC your best bet is to call Garmin for help.

I am in contact with them, but even there I get very unhelpful responses.
