Garmin Express Not Recognized by Asmedia 3.0 USB Port

I am running my desktop PC using an ASUS AMD Motherboard (M5A99FX_Pro_R2) and have not been able to get Garmin Express to run when I connect my nuvi 2689 LMT to any of the ASMedia 3.0 USB controlled ports. However, Garmin Express will run when I connect my nuvi to any of the 2.0 USB ports on that motherboard or when I connect it to any Intel USB 3.0 controlled ports on my laptop that uses Intel 3.0 drivers. I have found other forums that discussed problems when trying to connect other devices to ASMedia 3.0 controlled ports.

Is this problem happening to other Garmin users who have ASMedia 3.0 USB controlled ports?

Has anyone found a way to get Garmin Express to run using ASMedia 3.0 USB controlled ports?

Update as of 03/28/17:

I sent a support request to ASUS regarding the situation I mentioned above and would like to share the response I received from ASUS so that others who experience the problem know what is happening and hopefully so Garmin will address the issue on its end. Here is the ASUS response:

"I have received response from my next level of support.

Although most USB devices work with Asmedia USB 3.1. For this case, Garmin device is not compatible with Asmedia controller, and I advise sticking with USB 3.0 for full functionality, given the USB flash drives and other devices are working properly."
