Not connecting to servers

So two things. First for 2 days now I cannot check for updates for my Garmin DriveAssist 51 as I only get unable to communicate with our serves.
This is almost a joke.

The second thing, for me I am absolutely totally surprised that Garmin no longer care about customers. Why do I say this, well just try and get support. One just get to read, but if that has no solution, just too bad. There is no chat, nor email, not even a phone number.

I like my device, but I am getting to not think too much of Garmin as a company and how they treat customers. I have to say, as bad as Microsoft was, Garmin has now surpassed them for treating customers as garbage when it comes to support.

Now get the servers working, why does one pay for the red light updates and then not get them?

I
  • Garmin can be contacted here, I've always found them very helpful Product Support

As for 'unable to connect to servers' message please read this FAQ https://support.garmin.com/faqSearch/en-US/faq/content/uZQHyc3C4s2S0wfUYR2QY9

If that doesn't help contact Product Support vie the above link.

    Nope

I read the FAQ, and I had checked everything long before I posted this. As for the link you have here, it is where I have gone for weeks with the same results. I never see an option to contact support. I only have a "Contact Support" and when I click it I get to go back to Support Center.

I read Garmin's Values, Mission, and Vision, all claiming to be for the customer, yet not having a very simple way to get to them, well sorry, that is not for the customer.

No, I will just be frustrated with Garmin, and I will not be afraid to tell others just how difficult it is to get help. Really it is impossible to get a real support person.

Thank you for the reply, but all it seem to be good for is to give me more typing practice in replying to you.

Enjoy your Garmin, and right now, if TomTom had a device with a cam in it, I would switch, at least I can get to there support people.
  • I will have to agree with you that Garmin has made made it harder to figure out how to contact them with their silly "Get Help Here" page. Why they can't just simply list their support phone number and support email address like they used to is beyond me.

That said, if you get yourself past the first couple of prompts on the "Get Help Here" stage and get to the Search Results list, at the bottom of the page is a section that says "Contact an Expert". It has links for chat, call and email. I suggest calling support for the best service experience.

Note that I am in the USA, so this may be different in other countries.

    DriveAssist Issue

I am in US as well. I think I will get in touch with the company I purchase the DriveAssit from and see if they can help me at least get a phone number.
I did find out one thing, it is only my DriveAssist 51 LMT-S that has the problem with the server issue. My wife's Nuvi 1450 has no problem looking for updates.
This is definitely Garmin issue, and I want it corrected ASAP, like now would be just fine.

    Really it's not :)

As posted above you just need to work through the link I gave you, and on most Garmin pages you'll find a 'Contact us' link at the bottom, including the page that comes up if you simply type Garmin into a search engine. If you select that link you get http://www.garmin.com/en-US/company/contact which you may find easier to follow. On their specific support page, and in common with many companies, you are first given FAQs to try to help you immediately and then if that doesn't help various other forms of contact, including toll free helplines. There is also a video in the support page explaining how it all works, which includes pointing you at the chat, call and email options! Garmin also runs Twitter and Facebook pages to help users, through which you can contact them.

    Garmin on Facebook and Twitter
Garmin Fitness on Facebook and Twitter
Garmin Outdoor on Facebook and Twitter
Garmin Fish & Hunt on Facebook and Twitter
Garmin Marine on Facebook and Twitter
Garmin Aviation on Facebook and Twitter

As you can see, there is a myriad of ways you can get help, but if despite all this you are still struggling the toll free number in the US is 1-888-442-7646, and if you call them they should be able to help you with your issue.

It isn't like I didn't try, but the last thing that Seliogramp has, I never get. I keep doing exactly what was shown and at no time did I ever get the "Contact an Expert" that was after doing this for almost an hour.
For me my solution was even easier, I email the company I bought the Garmin through and now have the phone number. In case other are like me and never get the contact info, the number is: 800-800-1020. I will do my best o help others.
The other thing I have found, it has nothing to do with Express. My wife has a Nuvi 1420 and Express has no problem checking it for updates.
The DriveAssit 51 LMT-S has Wi-Fi and I get the same message when just trying to update the Garmin without Express.
Today, Garmin are going to either tell me how to get it to work, or send me a new one. Tired of this

Always works for me, maybe it's a browser issue, which one are you using?

Please note while the number you've been given may work the number on the Garmin web page is as I posted above.

    Problem solved

Well I finally was able to get the box to appear. Don't enter what you real issue is, but rather just type in "other" then it appears, but when you use "connect to Express" it will never get you there.

The other thing, even though they have an 888 number for phone, after using chat I was given the 800-800-1020 number to call.

After doing that, low and behold, it is an issue at Garmin, not on my end. They are working on a fix, but no time table as to when the fix will be. For me that is fine, I just wanted to know it was not on my end.

Thanks everyone for the help, it was a bit frustrating, but well it has been a great learning experience and not one I will forget.

I do appreciate all the help.
