Garmin Express not found - no syncing of activities possible since Dec 28th

I have Garmin Express installed for 2+ years for my Edge 500
No problems uploading activities until a month or two ago and my dashboard would update fine

Now when I try to open Garmin Express, my PC "pings" and cannot find it - even though I have uninstalled and reinstalled it several times

As a result, when I connect my Edge device, no syncing occurs and my activities are then "lost" as the device re-sets having been connected to my PC

Anyone got any ideas what's gone wrong - I haven't changed PC or anything so there's no obvious trigger why it's suddenly stopped working

  • Possibly an OS update has affected it. Do a complete uninstall as explained in this thread https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?368584-Express-not-installing&p=942442#post942442 then reinstall Express. Prior to doing so have you tried deleting then re-adding your Edge to Express.

    Tried that SUSSAMB but still no joy

    Firstly, I wasn't able to delete the Edge from Express because of course Express won't open for me

    Then I uninstalled Express - the only program listed on my PC was Garmin Express itself - during the uninstall process, I did notice that it was also uninstalling ANT Driver x86 but none of the other programs you listed are on my PC

    I then re-installed using the link you provided - noticed that it was the same version as I already had installed

    Once that step was completed, I tried to access Express, but alas, same result - banner appears on screen but instead of opening the program, my PC "pings" and the banner disappears.

    All very frustrating - so my Edge device captures my cycle rides perfectly, but I cannot see the details on the dashboard
  • Sorry thought Express was opening, if it's as you describe I wonder if this is a scaling issue? Try this:

    Open Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Escape)
    Under Apps, Expand Garmin Express (32 bit) (Windows 8 only)
    Right-click Garmin Express
    Click Maximize (this opens Express in full screen which looks terrible)
    Drag the gray bar at the top of the express window to leave full screen mode

    Hi SUSSAMB,

    Tried that but when I open Windows Task Manager, the only tasks listed are Chrome and iTunes which I had opened earlier

    If I cannot get Express to open, how do I get it to appear on the task list ?

    If that doesn't help then not sure what else to advise except to call Product Support
