I've got an old Forerunner 50 (now discontinued) which I'm trying to connect to a new laptop with Garmin Express. I get an error message "The specified unit ID is invalid". Garmin support team suggested a master reset of the device which I did, but that hasn't helped. Any further suggestions before I give up and buy something newer? A bit annoying as this watch is about 10 years old but it still works perfectly, I just can't get the data off it! Thanks.
The Forerunner 50 is not compatible with Garmin Express. The device was only compatible with Garmin ANT Agent. Both the device and Garmin ANT Agent have been discontinued. I recommend upgrading to a newer device that will be compatible with Garmin Express.
Just give the ANT Agent a try. It's not supported anymore but should still work. There's no reason to give up on your FR50 so easily if you're satisfied with it.
