vivofit won't pair with express, shows 5492

crossposted - Vivofit often won't sync with antstick on windows 8.1 pc, more frequent now. Usually retrying the sync repeatedly will eventually work but not today. I have uninstalled/reinstalled Garmin Express, the antstick is recognized and the driver software is up to date. When trying to pair with Express/antstick, vivofit flashes "5492"; what does that mean? I can't pair/sync with my smartphone because it's an Amazon Fire Phone and the garmin express app is not available in their store. I have also moved the antstick into other usb ports in the past, sometimes it did the trick, sometimes not. also posted in wrist-worn, suggestions for other forums here?
