Problems updating to v4.4.0

I have checked for updates to my installed and fully working Garmin Express v 4.2.0.0, it says update available to 4.4.0.0.
I click to update, the download bar runs across but then I get an error box saying 'Unsupported 16 bit application'. Error message states garmin express installer is incompatible with 64-bit versions of windows. I have Windows 8.1 64-bit OS.
the current Express version seems to work ok, it just wont update. not ever had an issue before installing it or updating until now.

Have tried to upload JPEG of the error message but cnnot seem to add 75kb pic to the post?

Garmin Express 4.4.0.0 doesn't install on 4.3.0.0 version

I have Windows 10 and I tried to update from 4.3.0.0 to 4.4.0.0.
The message says: "incompatibility with the Windows 64bit versions"

Have the same issue and error message upgrading from V4.3.0.0 to V4.4.0.0.

For those of you having the update failure to v 4.4.0.0, one thing you can try is to download and run the GE installer directly instead of using the update function within your current version of Express. This method worked for one user on another forum who was having the problem. Here is the link: http://software.garmin.com/en-US/express-download.html#win
