Garmin Express and Windows 10 problem (Multi-users)

Hi There,

Just built a brand new computer last week, installed a fresh copy of Windows 10 (Pro, if that matters) and, first things first ;), installed Garmin Express (version 4.2.0.0) so that I could manage my 920XT and my Edge 520. So far so good.

I then went ahead and created an additional MS account for my wife.

This is where things are getting frustrating.

On her Windows session, Garmin Express is already installed, with my credentials. Must be inherited from my installation. If I change the Garmin Connect account from mine to hers, the change also reflects on MY session.

There is no way to discriminate my account from hers. Bummer.

I know the theory, and tried different things (MS account with or without password, installation in my private folder) but nothing works :(

Am I missing something ? Has anyone been able to run such a configuration ?

Thanks for your support.

Cheers,
Nicolas
  • Are you trying to share one device between two? Granted I'm running a Mac, but I have two separate 920XTs working through the same GE installation. Each device has it's own Garmin Connect account.
  • It seems to me it depends how Express is installed. It's been awhile so I don't recall if Express gives you the option of installing for all users or just for one particular user. Some programs do that. In theory, you should be able to log into windows as one user and install Express just for yourself. Then your wife should be able to login as herself and install Express again just for her profile.

However, even if you can't do that, if you are not sharing the same device, each person can install their device to their own account. In fact, I went one step further. I have a vivofit and a vivoactive and 2 Connect accounts - Main and Test. In mobile, my vivoactive and vivofit sync to my main account. In Express, my vivoactive syncs to my main account and the vivofit to my test account. It's useful when I want to compare steps from the 2 devices. In effect, I have one device syncing to two accounts.

All you have to do is set each device to the account you want in the Tools & Content-Garmin Connect tab of Express.
