Lost DEM map in latest CN Europe 2017.20 ALL

Just installed it on my Nuvi 3597. File size was just above 8 Gb. But I wonder one thing : Is this correkt ?
the Nuvi says about installed maps the following:

1. CN Europe NTU 2017.20 ALL
2 CN Europe NTU 2017.20 3D

Nothing else than that. No checkboc for DEM map - Nothing....

BUT no DEM map ?
Digital Elevation Map ?

Is something wrong ?

Same question here! Device is 3490.

Of course, there is something wrong - wrong is that we bought unfortunately the Garmin device! :P
Only problems! Last time I wrote about a month to support-each time responded a new person, and still the same standard answer! :S
  • You can just restore that file from your backup as its like the basemap and doesn't change.
  • Nott possible

You can just restore that file from your backup as its like the basemap and doesn't change.

Well ! I have a brand new (1 week) computer so no backup.
    Old computer died....
  • Quite a few reports of this. If a reinstall doesn't help and you have no backup you'll either need to call product support or wait for an answer from the Express team.
  • Garmin support confirmed

Just talked to Garmin support. Yes ! The DEM map is gone in latest EU map says Garmin , But it will be back in the next weeks Garmin Express update, says Garmin Tech support. Great :-)

    Some hope

Now that gives me some hope. It's so silly to drive along my local river and the gps shows thar it doesn't end in a big lake - but in a huge fotball field...
  • Another glorious map release, eh? Thanks Garmin!

And yes, to confirm: my nuviCam has also been stripped from DEM map upon installing 2017.20 indeed.

Anyway and if that's of any consolation: it's not related to latest Garmin Express version as - some of you may recall - I specifically use v3 on my trusty Windows XP machine and the net result is exactly the same.

EDIT: Forgot to add: is there a chance Garmin Support to obtain this file independently so I can fix it myself please?
  • Still NO DEM map in latest CN Europe 2017.20 ALL - Garmin - Please answer.

    Garmin People, Please answer this.

In the latest CN Europé 2017.20 there were no DEM (Digital elevation Map) map included in the update. (I got a new SD card in my 3597 unit so I need it)
I also have a brand new computer so no backup of earlier versions in my pc.

I was told by Garmin Tech support by phone a week ago that this would be fixed in the new Garmin express that was released yesterday 4.1.28.

SO today I erased the sd card in my 3597 and downloaded the complete CN Europé 2017.20 2 hours ago.

And there is still NO DEM map included in the download.

    3597 only says in maps

    1. CN Europé NTU 2017.20
    2. CN Europé NTU 2017.20 3D

    What is going on ?

    Regards

    Peter
  • Same problem as in 2014 - Lost DEM map - read what Garmin said then.

This is what garmin said in 2014 when they had the same issue with lost DEM maps .
But this time they dont seem to say anything about several DEM maps being lost.

it would be nice if Garmin said ANYTHING about this problem....

We have corrected some server side issues with the 2015.10 map update download which should help with server traffic. We are still experiencing some issues and are working to get these corrected as fast as we can. Some of the issues that were described in this thread are already in the works to get fixed:
    1) DEM map being removed from device during map update
    2) Map installation to the computer
These 2 things have been reported and hopefully will be resolved fairly quickly.
I apologies for an inconvenience this may have caused but we are trying to get this resolved.

    Thank you

    Mike
