I own a BMW Navigator V (made by Garmin) with Lifetime maps of Europe. I wanted to install the Maps on a computer to plan a 3.500km bike trip.
1.) Connect the Nav V to my 12" Macbook => Nav V and SD Card are not recognized => Bug No. 1
2.) Try an older 15" Macbook Pro => Nav V and the SD Card is recognized on OS level, Garmin Software only finds the Nav V not the SD Card where the map is installed, so I can update the firmware, but can't install the map to Basecamp => Bug No. 2
3.) Try a windows PC => Nav V and SD Card is recognized, but Button to install Software to the computer is grayed out => Bug No. 3
I planned my trip with www.motoplanner.de (worked flawlessly), but without the close sync between their maps and the maps installed on the Nav V.
I'm back from the trip now and the Nav V firmware (Ver. 3.30) rebooted the Nav V after every stop. I stopped counting after I hit a triple digit number of reboots. => Bug No. 4
Summary: I have to rely on third party services to plan my holiday and during the holiday your software crashed constantly.
Thank you Garmin for ruining my holiday!
Honest advice to everybody: Buy an iPhone, a waterproof case and a power source plus a Sygic license. You'll save money AND you'll have the WAY better product.
A lost customer for ANY further products from Garmin.
