Route finding problems with update 2017.10 Western Europe

Hi all,

The company I work for uses Garmin sat navs across a small delivery fleet. I am responsible for grabbing them a few times per year and updating them via Garmin Express (v4.1.25.0 running on Windows 7, because that computer also runs other things that don't play well with newer Windows versions).

The fleet has five Garmin Nuvi 2445s. Additionally three personal sat navs are registered too: my MD's 2445, a colleague's 2495 and my 55. A few weeks ago I updated all eight sat navs to 2017.10 along with the software updates at the time.

Since then, all the sat navs, all three different models, have been... erratic. No sat nav is perfect, but we've been happy with Garmins for the past couple of years and they're suddenly, well, not what they once were.

One of the work ones keeps trying to direct the vans down motorway lay-bys and straight out again, rather than just going down the road.

Another work one tried to send a delivery team across a field last week.

My own nuvi 55 got completely lost around an estate in Calne, Wiltshire and tried to take me down pedestrian areas. To get into the estate itself - a left turn - it wanted me to go straight on, all the way around a mini roundabout, then back to take what was now a right turn, on a really awkward bend :D

MD has also reported some "taking the pretty route" as she calls it.

It's not all the time but it's noticeably increased since the update.

Is this the map itself or the software which goes with it? Anyone else having these problems?

I am in the process of recalling all the units, re-installing the maps (since I'm told by Garmin there's no facility to rollback unhelpful updates) and making sure the other software is up to date, but it'll take a few days to see how well that's worked so in the meantime I'm posting here, to see if anyone else has had these problems.
