Garmin Express don't sync my Fenix 3

Hi,

Since I've upgraded to 7.36, it seems that my Fenix 3 is not syncing via Garmin Express. It syncs with the iOS app but not via USB. THe watch mounts on my desktop but Garmin Express shows the watch as "disconnected"

I've reset the USB port with PRAM and SMC reset on my mac

any ideas ?
  • According to some feedback, in such case can help next:
    - delete(backup it before somewhere) file /Garmin/GarminDevice.xml;
    - restart watch, switch it OFF and ON.
File GarminDevice.xml will be recreated and all should works good with Garmin Express.
No any personal data lost happened. But just in case you still have backuped file, which can be easy restored.

Does the watch appear in the drives list when you connect it? the Garmin unit should appear in the list (here it's g: )
Go to settings, system, USB mode. Are you on Mass storage?
  • This is (for me) an issue from all beta releases after 7.20 :-(

See my post here : https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?357925-Fenix-3-7-40-Beta-Release-Public-Release-Candidate&p=884705#post884705

    I downgraded to 7.20...
  • No solution ?

I also tried to delete the GarminDevice.xml file under FW7.40b. But it didn't fix the issue :-(

    Waiting instructions from Beta Team...

    Yes

Yep, even if it's in Garmin mode, the Unit asks you to change to Mass storage when you plug it on an usb port

Notice that it's not better with fw 7.5

I'll try to delete and reinstall Garmin Express
  • Ensure Express is up to date. If it is then try deleting the device from Express then re-add it.

Up to date. I erase my Fenix 3 from the list but I'm unable to add it back. Weird part is that I can add a friend's Fenix.

Are you using a PC or a Mac? Your first post mentions Mac but this is the PC forum so I just wanted to clarify.

That being said, it appears that the issue is with the Beta release FW after 7.20 that is causing the issue. IACCHOS posted that after rolling back to 7.20, everything worked fine. Have you tried this? If not, I recommend doing so until the developers resolve this detection issue.

This also needs to be reported using the beta tester process not this Garmin Express forum. This thread will be closed.
