I have a Nuvi 2545 and up to now have updated direct to the device. Last update I encountered problems as I ran out of space. I had to contact Support and they talked me through a whole process of deleting stuff and installing. They suggested I install direct to an sd card in future. This may sound stupid but I am an older person and not very good with technology. First what sd card should I buy? In the shops there are ones labelled high capacity etc. Any advice what specifically to buy would be appreciated.
When I put the sd card in the device will it tell me to format it, and if so do I have a choice of format and what do I choose?
Then when I want to install a map update from Express do I just select 'install' and will it then give me an option to install to the sd or the device?
Once I have acquired the new data map etc (hopefully without issues and too much stress!) how does the Garmin Nuvi know to read the new data from my sd card rather than the old data from the device? Is there an option given when I switch on? A friend suggested I just overwrite the existing data on the device but I don't have space to do this in the device ( the device has about 3.6 MB memory and the map is about 3.9. Or, does the explorer load the data to the device and then move to the card when there is not enough space? Sorry if all this sounds really stupid but any help would be appreciated. As I say I am not at all used to all this!
Thanks for any help given.
