Backups of 2595lmt

Hi, tried to update my 2595lmt with Garmin Express.
It started to download, but locked up...

The device didn't work afterwards.
Put it in Mass Storage Mode and formatted the drive.

After a reboot, Garmin Express found it and offered to gedownload the maps.
All very well, but now i have only English language and no spoken voices anymore.

Does anyone have a backup of an 2595lmt (not including the maps and Garmin folders)

I still miss my Navigon device, that could be restored from scratch by Navigon Fresh, Just log in to your account and select restore device.

And Navigon is owned by Garmin..
  • Formatting your device isn't advised, particularly if you don't have a back up. It's a shame you didn't seek advice here first.

If Express sees your device though it seems you may have got away with it :)

You can reload the voices via the Tools button in Express.

I also suggest you run WebUpdater, since that will often install files that Express won't.

I did make a copy of the .System folder before i formatted the drive.
However it makes no difference if i copy it back or not..
And yes,i have it in Mass Storage Mode(since i bought it a few years ago)

Webupdater did download the voices, so that is working.
Problem is : why doesn't it download the rest of the missing files?
For now i have copied the keyboard folder from my friends 3790 device.
I did find a zip file with the Text files for my 2595(as the ones from the 3790 didn't work.)

So it kinda works again, but still want the proper files in my device.
Why isn't there a Restore Device option in Garmin Express?

If only Garmin Express offered a way to restore your device, that had saved me a lot of time and frustration..
  • As already stated in this thread, formatting devices are not recommended or supported. When experiencing issues that would lead to formatting, prior to do so, contact Product Support by phone.
