Garmin Express won't find memory card

I have a Garmin nuvi 40LM. I am attempting download various maps onto a microSD card via Garmin Express and Express will not recognize that a card has been inserted in the nuvi. Keep receiving the "card not found" error message. I have followed all steps found in Garmin support and nothing works and nothing has ever worked. I keep having to erase and download different maps for different regions every time I travel.

Today, I purchased a new microSD card, formatted it and inserted into the nuvi to no avail. I am currently unable to update to the latest version of Garmin Express (see thread https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?355665-Garmin-Express-Update-and-Windows-10) but like has already been stated, Express has never recognized a memory card in my nuvi 40 LM.

The issue is likely to be the fact you are unable to update Express, so I'd wait for the Garmin team to resolve that issue first, then see if the card is recognised.
