Nüvi 1490T - "incompatible card" when attempting to upload maps

Good afternoon (morning for the colleagues in America),
I have a problem with uploading maps on Garmin nüvi 1490T. I have been using a micro-SDHC card for about five years and there had never been a problem. Currently, when I attempt to upload maps, Garmin Express claims (after choosing to save them to a memory card) that the card would be incompatible, although it otherwise works with the device (I can use older maps) and it also works perfectly at a computer.

I have found some tips on Garmin website, like updating the application, formatting the card, trying another computer etc., but none of them works. The official support in my homecountry has adviced me to bring it to a service - before I do that, I want to try if there is a solution. The official support for the USA seems not responding.

I have looked for a pre-existing topic here but I can't find it. If there is one please give me a link.

Cards can fail. Try another one.

Hello SUSSAMB, thank you for your answer. May it be when the card otherwise works well with the device (i. e. I can use maps on it, I just can't upload them) and it is readable with the PC?

Could still be the card. You have checked the card isn't locked I assume?

What size is the card you are using? Sometimes, if the card is a 32GB card, the computer will read it as just a bit larger than 32GB and cause the application to reject the card. I would suggest trying a new (or recently formatted) 8GB card and see if you get the same error message.

So thank you both for your advice. I have solved the problem by formatting the memory card again, not quickly, and without re-pasting the data (as I did for the first time). Now it works again.

The problem is therefore solved.
