Help Updating" City Navigator North America NT"

It has been a while since I have used BaseCamp and my Montana gps, so I have forgotten more then I knew.

Currently I have my "City Navigator North America NT" installed in my Montana gps AND in BaseCamp.

I want to UPDATE my "City Navigator North America NT" to the newest version. Garmin Express initial instruction say the GPS has to be connected and this is where the download will go.

I want to ALSO put it in my BaseCamp.

HOW do I get it in BaseCamp AND in my Montana gps.

Is this a new map or do you have lifetime updates?

If you're simply downloading a new map you cannot install it to your PC, at least not initially although there are a few ways to get BaseCamp to use it without having to plug in your Montana each time.

If you have lifetime maps then under Map options in Express choose Install to device and computer.

Since the Montana 650t did not come pre-loaded with City Navigator North America NT, and you unlocked a DVD of that mapping to your device, any map update purchased will install to the computer only. It will not be installed to the device using Garmin Express. Once the maps are installed on the computer, you will use MapInstall to send the maps to either the internal memory of the device or a micro SD card. Here is our FAQ with instructions:

I do not have Lifetime Updates. I have a DVD for the initial install. So this would be a update I will have to pay for.

Thank you. I will look at the link you provided and follow your text instructions. I do recall now that I did use MapInstall to install to the device when I first got my Montana 650t.

Here is the sequence as I understand:
1) Use "Garmin Express" to purchase a update of "City Navigator North America NT"........It will install to my BaseCamp.
2) After "Garmin Express" is done use "MapInstall" to install to my Montana 650t

I will let you know how it goes.

I don't believe Express allows that, unless there has been a recent change. I think you will need to follow the instructions here

I downloaded a update for "City Navigator North America NT" with "Garman Express"........which installed it on my computer and left the original CNNA alone. I was surprised there was no Update charge. Then I started "MapInstall" and it installed the new CNNA to my Montana and left the old version alone. This was all per the instructed from "EXPRESSCUSTOMERCARE Lisa"

Disable the old version of CNNA Enabled the new version entered a destination and everything appears to be working Everything is good with the world again !

Does this seam all OK to you guys Lisa and SUSSAMB. Please let me know if you see a problem

If there was no charge then I suspect you have lifetime maps.

This is correct. There was no charge for the update this time because you never received the nuMaps Guarantee map update when you originally unlocked the DVD. The product key was available to you to use at any time and it has now been done. Any update in the future would need to be purchased.

I'm glad that everything is working for you. You may want to remove the older mapping from your Montana 650t as it is taking up space you may need for other things. Otherwise, it should be fine.
