nuvi 250 memory full

Hy, I’m not sure if I’m posting in the right place, but I have a problem and time is pressing me. I have a nuvi 250 and I started getting memory full messages. I deleted some favorites and thought it was taken care of, untill 2 days ago. I updated my country’s map, Romania (ROAD 2016) and when I wanted to navigate all I got were memory full and waypoint memory full messages.
I searched the internet, found a post on Garmin’s site support.garmin.com/.../case.faces , saying that it could be outdated firmware or excess archive files. I checked my nuvi, but there is no archive folder in the GPX folder ( there is only a folder named Current.gpx, size 3 kb). I deleted a bunch of voice files, vehicles and jpegs, and now I have 606 MB free of 1,45GB, but it still made no difference. I tried to update the firmware with Garmin Express, but its not working, after I completed the process, I plugged it in and GE still says there is a firmware update. The new one is 5.10, but the nuvi is still 5.01. I have downloaded a smaller version of City Navigator Europe on the SD card, and that worked, but I just cant update the firmware. I tried to use MU, but it crashes, says cant connect to internet.
Things just got better when I tried to delete some favorites, when I hit delete, the nuvi just shuts down and its downright unusable.
If anybody could help me, I would really apreciate it, because I need the nuvi for the 1st of July, when I leave for Vienna.
Thank you

  • I suspect the messages you're getting have nothing to do with 'free memory' on your nuvi, which from your post is ample. Memory full messages are normally caused by you trying to calculate a long and/or complicated route and the memory the error message is referring to is memory that's inaccessible to the user.

There is a limit though to the number of favourites you can have installed, and you might also have reached that limit (500 I believe on your GPS), if that's the case you'll need to delete some.

If that's not the case there may be an issue internally in your nuvi and I suggest you try a master reset, directions are here

If that doesn't work I suggest you contact Product Support.
