Just bought a zumo 595 and tried to update maps using Garmin Express. Managed to get to 21% before Express froze, uninstalled and installed again with the firewall off still no joy. Tried over and over again but no joy.Is it a problem with Garmin express or the sat nav.Starting to think the zumo was a waste of money. Is there any otherway i can update the maps thanks
I am sorry you are having trouble updating your zumo 595LM. Garmin Express is the program we need to use to update the maps. If the map update is failing at 21%, the problem is with the internet connection. At the point it fails, it hasn't even started transferring to the device. Please try the steps in the FAQ, "">What should I do if I am having problems downloading updates in Garmin Express?">What should I do if I am having problems downloading updates in Garmin Express?"
* Note: The zumo 595LM should have working maps right out of the box and can be used until you can complete the update.
Just downloaded windows 10 on my lap top. Plugged in my zumo 595 and nothing happens, open up garmin express and the logo comes across the screen but goes off after a few seconds. Tried changing the settings to open up in Windows 8 but no luck just the same. Cant update the maps or zumo even though its brand new and cost a packet.
I am sorry you can't get Garmin Express to open now that you have updated to Windows 10. This sometimes happens when upgrading to Windows 10 if Garmin Express is already installed. Something in the operating system update alters files that Garmin Express uses. Please first try the steps in the FAQ. "">Why does Garmin Express for Windows fail to launch when I run it?">Why does Garmin Express for Windows fail to launch when I run it?"
If Garmin Express still won't launch, we need to completely uninstall it using a Microsoft Fixit tool. Please follow the steps in the FAQ, "">What should I do if the computer cannot find the .msi file when updating a Garmin Software Application?">What should I do if the computer cannot find the .msi file when updating a Garmin Software Application?"
Once everything is removed, you should be able to reinstall Garmin Express and use it.
I have just bought my 1st bike sat nav & having been adised to get Garmin i am not very impressed with the software updating available! I have tried numerous times now to update the maps from the installed version 2015.10 to the latest 2017.10 version. Every time it fails to install after downloading or during downloading. I have a powerful PC running on Windows 10 connected to unlimited download on sky internet via ethernet with a stable broadband speed of 4.8mbs. I then tried it on a friends laptop who had used Garmin for some time & successfully updated his maps recently. Again we could not get my zumo to update. After trying to ensure everything was up to date we uninstalled Garmin Express & reinstalled it & in the settings we then noticed it said an update for Garmin Express was available. After updating express to the latest version the maps have begun to download ok !...well so far anyway - it says it will take hours & hours so lets see if it completes! So if you are having problems just make sure you definitely have the latest version of express installed.
I am sorry you are having trouble updating the maps on your zumo 390LM. If your download speed is 4.8Mbps, the map update can usually be completed within an hour or two. If it is showing several hours, you may want to make sure there isn't something else interfering with the connection. Please try the FAQ, "">Issues downloading updates in Garmin Express">Issues downloading updates in Garmin Express".
Hopefully this helps speed up the download. Let us know if you have more trouble.
I have uninstalled and tried tore install Garmin Express but its still not downloading. Im using Windows 10 have you got any other fixes because i spent a fortune on my Zumo 595 and I cant use it to its full potential. Thanks
I am sorry you still cannot get Garmin Express to launch correctly. The steps last provided to you should have completely removed the program and allowed it to start over. Since they are still failing, there is something specific to this computer interfering with the update. The steps we need to try at this point are too complex for these forums.
