220 will not sync timezone/chipset/ant

Hi Guys,

I just bought 220 last week. It synced to firmware 3.10. Now I have message on the web:

Software Update
Time Zone Map, Version 17.00
GPS Chipset Type M426 (Fitness Region File)
Forerunner 620/220, ANT

But when I sync nothing happens. I synced few times using usb cable but the message is still on the web. I pressed sync in garmin connect pc software and on the web. It doesn't look like I have any new firmware update on the watch and it did not 'spin' for update on the watch.

I am sorry you keep getting asked to update files on your Forerunner 220 with Garmin Express. We can use a different program to load the device's software if it looks like it isn't loading through Garmin Express. Please follow these steps:
    • Download and install the ">WebUpdater">WebUpdater.
    • Connect the device to the computer. (If Garmin Express opens automatically, please close it.)
    • Launch WebUpdater.
    • Follow the prompts to load software. You will need to look at "Additional Updates" in order to find some.
    • Once everything is loaded, "Safely Remove"/"Eject" the device and disconnect it from the computer.
    • Power the device on and let it load completely. (It may not tell you it is installing.)

Now, you should have the current software. If Garmin Express still says there are updates, please remove the device from Garmin Express using the FAQ, "">How do I delete a fitness device from Garmin Express?">How do I delete a fitness device from Garmin Express?" Then, add the device back to Garmin Express.

Let us know if the issue is still happening.

    Hi

I did all the steps but had to remove device from the Garmin Connect and add it again. How do I know the update is complete? Can I check the version of the software updates? Also, srrial number in Garmin connect is different than the one on the device, is this normal?

There are a couple ways to know if you are updated. When you add a device to Garmin Express, it checks the software on the device. If it didn't say updates were available, then it is up to date. We can also check the device information for the Forerunner 220 by following these steps:
    • With the device unplugged, power it on.
    • Select "Menu" > "Settings" > "System" > "About".
Here it will list your Unit ID, Software version, GPS version, and software information. Here, it should list the versions that you just installed.

It isn't normal for the serial number on the Forerunner 220 to differ from Garmin Express. Please tell us the following:
    • What is the Unit ID from the device information?
    • What is the serial number on the back of the unit?
    • What serial number does Garmin Express show?
Once we know this information, we can examine the issue better.
