Every time I update my Garmin Nuvi 3590LMT my hard disk space decreases I check every folder Window's temp location, Users temp location, appdata's roaming folder, garmin's installation folder, my documents backup folder everywhere no where to be found. where does the whole 8 gb mysteriously disappear? Besides the new update kinda sucked it was so large that one have to had either SD card or put a region of the map.. why bother have a product with just 8gb memory or why have so large data? when it will reach end of life I'll never look back to garmin again.

I would be happy to help you locate the temporary storage for the Garmin Express downloads. Please follow these steps:
    • Press the Windows key + "R" to open the "Run" command.
    • Type in %programdata%\garmin\coreservice\downloads\map and press "Enter".
    • Here it will list all the maps (in folders) it still has stored in temporary memory. Right-click on a map folder you want deleted.
    • Select "Delete".
    • When prompted, confirm you want to delete the folder.
Now, the map should be in your recycle bin. If you empty it, you will gain space back on your hard drive.

I am sorry the map is too large to fit on the internal memory of the device. The nuvi 3590 had plenty of space to update for the first few years of its release. Unfortunately, we have no way of knowing how many new roads, points of interest, and other map changes will occur years in advance. The reason we include the ability to use microSD cards is because the maps grow with each update and eventually can get too large. Please see the FAQ, "">What is the largest size Secure Digital (SD) card that an automotive device can accept?">What is the largest size Secure Digital (SD) card that an automotive device can accept?" to see the limits for memory cards.

Son of a "!#¤!"# why do they store every version of map in that folder... that folder had 49 gigabyte of space occupied yea you heard me 49 gigs of my precious ssd :O..
Oh and by the day I chose the reason instead of using SD card as I already had sd card that is 8gb but it didnt want to install over it. Garmin had that problem before.
Could be bug or something I might have created a thread or answered a year or something before.. they fixed it in the unit but seems it still is there when you want to
    install in SD card.
It usually goes like this usually when you want to update your unit the map should be overwritten by the newer one but it didnt you had to manually delete the old one
and then when there was enough space it installed as it is supposed to.. garmin fixed it later.. now it seems like its happening again but this time its in SD card... it should
overwrite the old map in SD card but it is not doing that instead its saying me to put new sd card so well I just chose the central europe region and dealt with it.
