Yesterday for the first time I tried using my Edge 25 with Garmin Connect and Express. It worked the first time, and I downloaded device firmware upgrade 3.0. I installed the new firmware. After that, Express would show my Edge 25 as connected, but would never sync again; I repeatedly got a failure to sync error message. I am running Garmin Express 4.1.19.0 under Windows 8.1. Resetting the device, rebooting my PC and reinstalling Garmin Express did not solve the problem. Perhaps there is some incompatibility with firmware 3.0. The device itself seems to be working fine with firmware 3.0
I am sorry you can't sync your Edge 25 with Connect after updating its firmware. The firmware should not have any issues with Garmin Express. Most likely, it is just a bad piece of data stuck in the memory of the computer. Reinstalling Express won't necessarily correct this. We can probably solve this by removing and re-adding the device to Garmin Express.
Please follow the steps in the FAQ, "How do I delete a fitness device from Garmin Express?"
Once the device is removed from Garmin Express, please connect the Edge 25 to the computer and click on "Add a Device". Once the device is detected, you should be able to follow the prompts to add the device back to Garmin Express. It should now be able to sync again.
This did not work. I still get the same error message, "There was an error syncing with Garmin Connect". I get the same error regardless of whether I initiate the sync attempt from Garmin Connect or directly from Garmin Express.
I noticed that you had a lot of data in your Queue to be sent to your watch. I went ahead and cleared that to see if this would solve the sync error. Please try the following:
Right-click the Garmin Express icon in your system tray
Click Quit
Click quit again if prompted
Reopen Garmin Express
Connect your device and allow it to sync
If it syncs now, it was one of the downloads that were queued. You had a course in there that you can try sending again to see if it was that causing the problem. If that syncs, you can try sending your device settings again. If it is working now, then there may have just been some kind of bad or old data in your sync queue.
Thank you. This worked. It was choking on the course. Will not sync with that in the queue. I will delete that course and try again. I can now say that I cannot download to the device any course that I create. Trying to send the course to the device gets a sync error, and it will not sync while the course remains in the queue. If I delete the course from the queue, the device will again sync. This means the device does not have course functionality, which makes it considerably less useful than it should be. Do you have any suggestions about this?
