Issue with installing Garmin Express after upgrading to Windows 10

I upgraded my laptop to windows 10 and Garmin Express stopped working. I uninstalled Garmin Express and tried to re-install it. It keeps giving me an error on ElevatedInstallerInstaller.msi saying that it cannot locate it in the Package Cache folder. It is looking for version 4.1.13 which was the version I had before upgrading to win10. I tried pointing it to the 4.1.18 version but get an error and the installation fails. I have tried running the install as administrtor, etc. No luck.

I have spent a few days looking for solutions but have not come across this issue. Hoping someone can point me in the right direction to get this installed.

  • Try using the Microsoft FixIt Utility to completely uninstall Garmin Express. This software is third-party and not created by Garmin. The software is licensed and created by Microsoft.

1.Go to the web page: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/program_install_and_uninstall/
    2.Click the Run now button
3.Click Run in Internet Explorer or download then open MicrosoftFixit.ProgramInstallUninstall.RNP.Run.exe
4.Click Accept in the license agreement
5.Follow the provided instructions to select and uninstall the particular application

    When uninstalling Garmin Express select:
    •Garmin Express
    •Garmin Express Tray
    •Elevated Installer
•Garmin Update Services (skip if not present)
    •ANT Drivers Installer x64

This program will need to be run again for each item on the list to be uninstalled.

Then install Garmin Express directly from http://download.garmin.com/omt/express/B/GarminExpressInstaller.exe

    Hi,

Thanks for the reply. I tried downloading the software, unfortunately it does not run on Windows10.

I am sorry you are unable to get Garmin Express working in Windows 10. Garmin Express does work with Windows 10, but sometimes upgrading from a previous operating system messes with already installed pieces of it. The last steps posted usually solve this, but occasionally we need to remove a bit more. Please try the following:
    • Press the Windows key + "R" to open the "Run" command. (The Windows key should be 2 keys left of your spacebar.)
    • Type in %localappdata% and press the “Enter” key.
    • Right-click on the "Garmin_Ltd._or_its_subsid" folder.
    • Select "Delete" and confirm that you want to delete the folder.

Now, please try reinstalling Garmin Express.
