FAT32 limit

I've just updated my nuvi with the new EU map. 2017.10

It is 3.94Gb in size so now very close to the 4Gb FAT32 limit. What plans do Garmin have to deal with the next map update, which is likely to be greater than 4Gb.

Will Express be configured to automatically split the file into 2 smaller files? Or will users need to select smaller areas? If so how will things like junction view and voice recognition work?

It's simple enough on older units to split maps using MapInstall but that doesn't work correctly with newer units since you lose VR (in most cases) and junction view files, amongst others.

I think lack of response is the response itself: I fully expect multitude of new, not previously encountered experiences for all.

I apologize for the confusion, but the "lack of response" is because we don't release proprietary information. Our designers have a method to resolve the issue, but the method can change before the official release. We don't provide our plan because we want to prevent bad/invalid information from getting to the public in case we make any changes. When we have an official release, we can answer this question.
