Garmin Express v4.1.18.0 Installation Issues

I just got a new Garmin GPSMAP64s and want to download and install the Garmin Express software to check if it has updates. The file downloads fine, but when I go to install it just hangs on initializing and does nothing.
I'm running the latest version of Windows 10.
I found a link when searching the forums on "Why won't Garmin Express install on Windows Machines" but when I click that link I get a website error saying the requested page doesn't exist.
Anyone have an idea on how to install the Garmin Express software?
Thank you.
  • It's likely that the Connect web site's issues this morning affects the install of Express. It should work better now that Connect is back up (at least for me).

In my experience, the Initialization process of the Garmin Express program can take up to 25 minutes. This is because the installer is verifying all the Microsoft .NET Framework components that are needed are installed and working properly as well as other Windows components. Typically, if the installer is left to run, it will either succeed or fail. It usually does not just hang indefinitely.

I see that you were able to register your GPSMAP 64s yesterday. If this was not by using Garmin Express and you are still experiencing difficulties installing the program, I recommend contacting Product Support by phone for in depth troubleshooting.
